Queen Elizabeth’s 90th Birthday Celebrations

Please come and join our celebration on Sunday 12th June at 4.30pm at St Budock Church

There will be something for everyone to enjoy, all we need is your company and some lovely cakes. Please bring scones, sandwiches, cakes and other finger food on the day, either before the morning service or in the afternoon. Sunshine will be very welcome, but there is plenty of room in the church.

Evensong begins at 6.30pm with guest choir from All Saints Church accompanied by Daniel Shermon on the Organ, Director of Music at All Saints Church.

A Rose will be planted in honour of the Queen at 5.30pm.

We hope to show some video of the Queen’s life

Share memories together over the years since the Queen’s coronation by looking through our volumes of the Budock Parish Magazine

And we are planning to have something for the children, maybe magic tricks and a juggling performance.

In 1953 the year of the Queen’s Coronation, St Budock Church held its Summer Fete at Penmorvah. The Rev.R.A.Williams writes in the Parish Magazine. ‘This event is to take place this year on July 25th and once again by the kindness of Col. And Mrs Boyd at Penmorvah. We are, indeed, fortunate to have this lovely house and garden put at our disposal each year, and we should recognise the great amount of work which goes to make them look their best for such an occasion. Once again, too, we have the readily-given support of all those who normally run stalls and do the behind-the-scenes organisation.’

The takings for the day totalled £132 1s 1d

Mrs Boyd, “Goodies” = £15 15s 6d

Ladies’ Working Party = £51 15s 6d

Mrs Ingleheart and Mrs Vinson A.V.A. = £13 2s 0d

Mrs Mackenzie, Cakes = £9 9s 0d

Mrs Thomas, Teas = £10 13s 3d

(These were the highest earners on the day).

Doesn’t this all seem quite famliar!
