Messy Church

enjoying craft MC03 26.04.15 leading the blindfold around a course creating happy/sad faces

Another successful Messy Church was held at St Francis School on Sunday 26th April. The theme was based around the story of Jesus healing Bartimaeus’ blindness (Mark 10: 46-52). The story was told by Marcus and enacted by Naomi and Daniel. The listening children and parents displayed the Sad and Happy faces, which they had made earlier in the session, at the appropriate points in the story. This led to discussion of what we want from God, what God wants from us, and the value of talking to God through prayer.

The story was followed by a couple of songs, and a time of activities. The children enjoyed these alongside their parents, with a ‘blind’ obstacle course, making Get Well cards and trying to identify simple picture shapes only by using touch while blindfolded.

The meal of sandwiches, crisps and cakes was greatly enjoyed, and the session concluded with thoughtful prayers led by Reverend Canon Geoffrey Bennett.

The next Messy Church will be held at St Francis School on Sunday 14th June at 4pm. Any enquiries to; messychurch@budockchurch.org.
